Juan Carlos Mortensen was born in Ecuador and moved to Spain at the age of 15. He started playing poker in 1997 and four years later, won $1.5 million at the 2001 World Series of Poker Main Event.
Known as “The Matador”, Carlos Mortensen is a regular on the pro tournament circuit and while he hasn’t matched his Main Event win, he’s made numerous final table finishes in major events, proving that his WSOP win was far from a fluke.
