Sufficient Chips for the Blinds
Posted by WSOP in Texas Holdem FAQ on September 30th, 2008
Hey there!
In a no limit event, can you play the next hand in case you don’t have sufficient chips for either the big or small blind? I’m confused.
Any advice? Please help me.
Thank you.
Marshall
Marshall,
If you do not have sufficient chips for the big blind, you can still play. You will be all-in for the amount that you have. As a result, the most you can win from each player is what you have in the pot.
Dividing the Chips
Posted by WSOP in Texas Holdem FAQ on September 29th, 2008
Hello,
For quite a long time already, I’ve been wondering how the chips should be divided in a certain game with three way action by which the smallest stack went all in, and eventually the one with larger stack and the third player who has the middle stack called. Consider that the two largest stacks have the exact same hand and that the pot was obviously divided.
Thanks!
Nathan
Nathan,
This is actually quite simple. First, count down the smallest stack and take that amount from the middle and large stack. That makes the main pot. Next count the remaining amount from the middle stack and take that amount from the larger stack. That pot goes in the side pot. After the hand is over, split the side pot between the two winners and then split the main pot between the two winners.
