For an instance you are playing a 10/20 game. How much do you think a person in the small should pay? 5? Is it half of the smaller number or what?

How about the big blind, should he pay 10? Just equal to whatever the small or first number is? Then say the cards are dealt. Should the first person who is said to be “under the gun” call for at least 10 or else 20?

About the 2nd number what does it stands for? Any idea?

What you are explaining is a Limit Holdem game with betting levels of 10 and 20. Preflop and on the flop, betting limits are $10, and betting on the turn and river is $20. In this game, the small blind is half of the small bet amount. In this case, the small blind is $5. The big blind is $10. The under the gun player must either call $10, raise to $20, or fold.

I’ve been playing poker for just some time now that’s why I exactly don’t understand what a low limit holdem is. Well, I’m not sure if it’s a part of fixed limit holdem or no limit holdem, or else both.

At some point, I thought it was low limit vs. no limit, thus implying that there’s a certain limit when it comes to the amount of money you can bet. I also thought it was a .25/.50 or $ 1/2 structure in a no limit game. Am I right with this or actually just making false conclusions?

By the way, is it possible in fixed limits to have low limit game?

Low limit holdem is a term used for lower stakes cash games in general. It doesn’t matter whether the game is Limit Holdem or No Limit Holdem. Most Limit Holdem cash games below $10 – $20 are considered low limit cash games. For No Limit Holdem, most games below $5 – $10 blinds are considered low limit.

I would like to ask if how many times you can actually make a raise in limit holdem. For an instance, the game is a $4/$8 game and I bet $8 after the turn and consequently, the next guy raises and everyone else folds. Can I certainly re-raise? If I can, how many times perhaps?

Similarly, can everyone else raise so I could raise $8 and the next guy for $8 too, and so on and so forth?

In limit holdem, there is typically a 3 raise limit. If you bet out $8, the pot can be raised three times. Your opponents raise is the first one, you can then raise again for the second raise. You opponent would then have the option to cap the bet.

The same applies regardless of how many players are in the pot. If you raised someone’s $8 bet, then only two more raises can occur.
